Leroy and Luigi, Sable Antelope calves at B Bryan Preserve in Point Arena, CA

From March thru July 17, we have had 15 animals born at B Bryan Preserve in Point Arena, CA. We have had 5 Sable.. all boys. In early July we had 3 Roan born, 2 females and 1 male. But the ones that everyone likes to see are the zebra. We welcomed 2 Hartmann’s Mountain zebra males - Zipper and Doobi as well as 2 female and 1 male Grevy foal. We will not be breeding next year, so make sure you visit to see the newborns.
As most of you know, Kenya is going through the worst drought in 60 years. A projected 10 million people are expected to die. Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia are the home for the critically endangered Grevy’s Zebra. A recent study said that there were only an estimated 700 of these beautiful zebra left in the wild. We are expecting 3 Grevy’s Zebra to foal by the end of August which means we will have close to 1% of the population of Grevy’s at B Bryan Preserve in Point Arena, CA. That is exciting, but also sad.

Frank is taking Leroy to get his first check up as mom looks on.
