Sable Antelope

 
  • The sable antelope is mildly sexually dimorphic with the males and females looking only slightly different. Calves are born all the same color, a light sandy brown. As they get older, males can get a very dark brown, almost black, and their horns can get up to 5 feet in length. Females have a few different shades of brown, generally lighter than the males, and their horns can get up to about 3 feet long. 

  • Size: ~4 feet tall at the shoulder

  • Weight: 450 - 600 pounds

  • Conservation Status: Least Concern but declining
