Routes to the Coast

FROM THE SOUTH
101 > Bodega Bay > Hwy 1

Heading north on 101 from San Francisco, take exit 479 and turn left onto Railroad Avenue. Head towards Bodega Bay (Stony Point Road, Roblar Road, Valley Ford Road). The road will become Shoreline Highway/Hwy 1 and turn north once it hits the coast. 70 miles up Highway 1 is Point Arena.

FROM THE NORTH
101 > 128 West > Hwy 1

If you take Highway 101 to Cloverdale and then head west on 128, it will take you all the way to the coast. This is a windy road (nicknamed “Dramamine Drive”), so take your time and pull over for faster traffic. Once you get to the coast, turn left and head over the bridge toward Navarro Beach. Continue south to Point Arena. This route is longer than others but easiest for people prone to carsickness.

101 > 128 West > Philo Greenwood Road > Hwy 1

This route takes you to Hwy 1 at Elk, closer to Point Arena than the Navarro Beach turn off onto Highway 1 where 128 West ends at the coast. Philo Greenwood Road on its own takes a good hour of driving, so be sure to incorporate that into your drive-time. When you arrive in Elk, turn left and continue south to Point Arena.

101 > 128 West > Mountain View Road > Hwy 1

This is the most direct route, but Mountain View Road is rugged and requires patient driving. Again, budget at least an hour of drive-time for Mountain View Road itself. When you arrive at the coast, turn left and continue a short ways further south to Point Arena.
