A True Group Effort
Cooperation between aligned organizations greatly expands the impact we have on the critical situations faced by the species we keep.
Association of Zoos & Aquariums
B Bryan Preserve is an AZA Accredited Related Facility. AZA facilities meet the highest standards in animal care and wellbeing, and undergo a several day inspection and review every 5 years by a team of experts. AZA animal programs direct cooperative animal management between facilities across the country through Species Survival Plans, and AZA donates millions of dollars to aid in conservation, education, and research.
Partnership for Species
B Bryan Preserve is a member of PFS, and was one of the first institutions to join. PFS was established by the Conservation Centers for Species Survival with the goal of building large, sustainable (genetically diverse and demographically varied), ex situ hoofstock populations in North America for species that are no longer managed under AZA’s Species Survival Plans. These populations serve as a resource for potential reintroduction projects, and an insurance population against extinction. 25% of funds annually are donated directly to wild conservation efforts.
U.S. Department of Agriculture
B Bryan Preserve is a USDA inspected and passed facility, undergoing yearly inspections. USDA ensures the humane care and treatment of animals, following regulations established by the Animal Welfare Act.
Zoo Hoofstock Trim Program
ZHTP is dedicated to creating awareness of the importance of hoofcare in zoological facilities, and provides educational courses on maintenance and preventative hoofcare for zoo staff. BBP is collaborating with ZHTP to host their Level 2 Course annually, where students have the opportunity to trim giraffe, zebra, and antelope hooves!
